Croatia Real Estate

Croatia is a place that not many people would think about as a primary choice for travel during a vacation, but at the same time there are many people that do travel to the country and end up falling in love with it. The beauty, the history and the geography of the country create a very alluring combination and for that reason there are many different people that travel to Croatia regularly and spend most of their vacations within that specific country. If this sounds like something that you might be interested in doing (or if you are just looking to invest in real estate in Croatia for another reason), here is some of what is available to you.

Flats

The biggest part of the real estate market in Croatia is the flat. Also known as the apartment, these are units of high density residential housing that allow people to live within a city in Croatia for a very reasonable price. In terms of actual real estate deals, you can buy flats or you can rent them. People rent flats when they are expecting to go to Croatia for a short period of time (perhaps a month or even two weeks) and they buy flats when they would like to visit Croatia multiple times over the course of their life.

Houses

Houses are low density units that are also available in Croatia. Houses tend to be available within the major urban areas of the country like Zagreb, but you can also find them in tourist towns on the Adriatic Sea such as Dubrovnik. Houses are rather expensive in Croatia and for that reason many people that are middle class average income tourists tend to gravitate towards the purchase of flats rather than houses. Overall, the Croatian real estate market is geared more towards the sale and circulation of flats than houses as well, although as more affluence comes to the country the number of houses being constructed has started to increase.

Mansions

Mansions are practically non-existent in Croatia, but there are a few of them located along the Adriatic Sea. If you were interested in purchasing or building your own mansion, you would need to have a lot of money. You’d not only need to pay for the actual land and the building, but the taxes on a large parcel of land would be very high within the borders of Croatia. There are no tourists of note that have chosen this route and if you are like most tourists then a flat or a house would be a much better real estate option for you.
